First off Everyone has their own opinion on what the best handgun is or which one is better, I know I have my opinions. First off learn how to shoot a pistol properly, I have seen many range trips where people shoot the ground or the bottom of the target, or have a shotgun pattern. There are many guns that shoot great, if you learn how to properly shoot then you should be able to shoot anything. S&w, Glock, Sig, CZ, HK, Etc, are all good pistols, So go to a range that rents guns and try some out. Try different calibers, handguns find one that best fits you. If you have friends with different guns have them take you shooting. After you decide to buy a new handgun, buy some dummy rounds to practice dry firing. While you are practicing dry firing watch your front sight it will show you what you are doing wrong while pulling the trigger. If you have a DA/SA practice both pulls to be familiar with the long DA pull. Learn proper grip, stance, and trigger pull you then will get the most out of your pistol.
